Good product

The name of this soap leads one to think that its scent is dark and brooding but this is not reality. This is a cinnamon, vanilla, and pepper tied together with a royal incense and light musk. It is what you’d expect royal mideastern throne room to smell like. Masculine and mysterious yet lightly sweet. It’s a bit cologne like but never cloying. The slickness and protection provided by this soap are top shelf. The soap can be very thirsty and delivers a great face feel.

This is my second leaf razor, I have one for home and one for work and they both work perfectly. Highly recommend it to my fellow head shaving men.

Awesome scent, very fresh!

This amazing lather bowl produces hot lather that retaines its heat for a four pass shave. I do believe that the quality and comfort of my shaves have reached a level of satisfaction. Simply amazing performance.

Great light summer citrus scent.

Great summer scent and makes for a great lather.

Merkur was my first razor about 60 years ago so I am a bit biased. While I have had many other razors I keep coming back to the Merkur Progress. This particular razor shaves like many other Merkur Progress with one exception, it is slightly smoother if such a thing is possible. The finish is slightly better, as well as the alignment. To my eye it is a much more handsome razor without the bakelite knob on the end. I know opinions are divided on this but that is my own opinion.

I was looking for a morning refreshing citrus smell , not a candy kind but more mature , this one is spot on . one of my favorites . And Stirling good as usual .

I acquired this because I love lavender and thought to give this a try. While the wonderful, natural and slightly herbal scent alone is worth it, I couldn’t believe the slickness and cushion of the lather. This is a vegan soap but it competes with and outperforms most of my tallow soaps. That’s going to anger many tallow heads in the shave community but goodness gracious, it’s the truth. I’m not sure what kind of black magic Douglas has used to create this base but it has given me one of the best if not THE best post shave face feel I have received in over 35 years of wet shaving. Slicker than spectre snot so be careful if you have a ceramic shave bowl, it’ll want to jump out of your hand.

Out of all the razors i own this one gives me the closest shave on my neck. My hairs grow flat against my skin on my neck and out of all the razors I own, this razor gives me the closest shave on my neck.

Gillette SharpEdge are my new favourite blades, and I have decided that they are the only blades I will be using from now on. In regard to sharpness, they remind me of Feather blades, but I much prefer them over Feather for two reasons: they're significantly less expensive, and they are much smoother and don't cause any irritation at all (Feather blades always felt abrasive and scratchy to me). I have an unfortunate combination of sensitive baby skin and coarse pine-needle hair, but these blades are the perfect solution to that quandary because they will effortlessly mow through the most coarse hair and cause no irritation whatsoever. Quality control for this line seems to be excellent as well; I have yet to encounter a defective blade. I can usually get about five or six shaves out of a blade before I have to change it, so I would consider that a pretty good value in terms of longevity. Everybody perceives blades differently, so there will be some people who don't feel the same way I do about them, but it's definitely worth trying a pack if you're seeking a smooth, sharp blade that's suitable for coarse hair.
