Declaration Grooming | Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli Shaving Soap
Henry Shaw is responsible for Tower Grove Park and the Missouri Botanical Garden in Saint Louis. In that garden, flowers and plants from the Far East coexist to species native to the Saint Louis area. In this scent, reflective of Shaw’s oasis in South City, the uniquely distinct smell of yuzu citrus, enveloping the unmistakably recognizable smell of rose and the dry, woody scent of patchouli come together so all three work together in unison to create something greater than the sum of their parts.

I recently purchased Yuzu, Rose, Patchouli shave soap and splash. I am happy about the quality with the soap base, its sickness and ease with which a lather forms. I was excited about the complicated scent that Declaration describes as a "whole greater than the sum of the parts". The combination upon first reading seemed to indicate an equal strength of each scent. The combination reminded me of a perfume I used to love "Eau de Hadrian" which is patchouli, rose and orange.
Here, the Declaration+Chatillon Lux blend is super Rose dominant ; the shave soap much more subtle than the aftershave slash. The aftershave feels good and my skin seems to glow afterwards but I smell like pure rosewater. I have decided I can live with the soap as is, but will try to balance the scent with the addition of patchouli and some bitter orange essential oils.
As usual....great service and selection from Top Of The Chain!
