The Masamune Razor was the first TATARA shaving product to be produced. It has been fashioned with the look of a classic safety razor but with unique lines of the future and, due to a minimalist design is able to transmit our view supported by purity, elegance, and simplicity.

The Masamune Razor is a smooth and efficient razor. This is due to its small blade gap and negative blade exposure.

The closed comb plate is our smoothest option and the most popular. It is designed with small grooves along the edges of the plate giving less blade exposure to the skin.

Try with a nodachi SB plate

The Tatara Masamune with a Nodachi baseplate has been my main razor for years. It has given me the best shaves of my life. I stopped buying razors. But this razor in an all Masamune configuration leaves something to be desired. Try to get a Nodachi baseplate for it if you can (SB). I will be honest with you, I own all the parts for the Masamune and Nodachi and there is no reason for me to use any of them except the Masamune top cap and Nodachi baseplate (SB).

Very Mild Razor

Beautifully crafted razor with nice balance and finish. Unfortunately it is a very mild razor even when pared with Feather blades. While I prefer mild razors this one just lacks the necessary efficiency for my usual two pass shave.

Reminds me of shaving with wolfman razor. Efficient shaver.
Does not fit other handles at all.
Blade is sticking out on the sides.
Thin handle.
