Saponificio Varesino

Saponificio Varesino After Shave Cubebe

$50

125ml After Shave in 125ml bottle – 100% vegetable (shake well before use).

A very special formula with characteristics of an alcoholic EDT (alcohol we use is of plant origin) and a fluid cream. In combination with the shaving soap, also the After Shave gives great comfort thanks to the Monoi de Tahiti. The active ingredients, in high concentration, make the formulation complex and rich. Apply just a small amount, spreading on the face.

    Where's the scent?

I don't get it. I got two of the SV soaps from Top of the Chain -- Opuntia and 80th Anniversary -- as well as the aftershaves for those. There were a few things of SV's I wanted that TotC didn't have, so I ordered them direct from Italy. When they arrive I found they'd included sachets of the aftershaves of this one, Cubebe, as well as Manna di Sicilia and Felce Aromatica. When I opened these -- not all on the same day, since I wanted to savour them, and not confuse my nose -- I was shocked by the power and beauty of the fragrances. Now I've got full bottles of each of these, and the Cubebe seems to be literally almost completely bereft of anything I can smell. I put a few drops, then a blob, of it on the back of my arm, and even when I put my nose up to a few millimetres away from it, it's barely detectable, and minutes later, there's nothing there at all! Manna di Sicilia is only slightly better. Very disappointing, especially since I read in some of the online forums that others have found them almost too strong, and in view of SV's stellar reputation. No comment yet on Felce, because I've yet to try it.
