From the vendor:

150g Shaving Soap, worked in plodder, extruded and cut by hand. The logo on the soap is “hammered” as it was in use at the beginning of the last century, before the coming of printing press.

The packaging is composed by a box of rigid cardboard covered with natural paper.

A special wood bowl allow to use it as a “cartridge”.

Although the PET container can be used as a proper bowl, is NOT designed for that purpose.

An inner paper tissue wraps and enhances a unique shave soap, born from years of experience in the art of saponification.

We can proudly call the product 100% Made in Italy. In addition to the soap base (saponificated and produced by us), the label, the PET container and the paper only come from Italian suppliers. The Beta 4.3 indicates the stage of development, initially as a Beta 1.0 and improved step by step.

Below we explore the characteristics of the soap:
• 100% vegetable (except fragrance)
• NO palm oil (forest protection)
• NO preservatives / chelators / antioxidants of chemical origin
• NO petroleum, mineral oils, dyes, parabens
• NO EDTA – SLS – BHT – SLES – PEG

This wonderful shaving soap has an extract from sap of the Manna Ash tree in it. It is an age old tradition in the Mediterranean to scar the bark of these trees and harvest the sap as it flows, it is then used for so many things, everything from eating it, to treating liver disease. All I know is that I like it in my shaving soap!

As with all Saponificio Varesino shaving soaps, the characteristics of the soap are top shelf.

The scent of Manna Di Sicilia is possibly the strongest of the line in my opinion, but even then it is not overpowering compared to many other manufacturers. I get a mild citrus, some herbs with a bit of tobacco, and woods with a bit of floral. For me, almost a perfect scent.

In case you are not aware, this is a hard puck which requires slightly more time and effort than many soft style soaps, but I find the effort to be well worth it.

I like my chocolate/bourbon/cherry/fudge/almond/vanilla compound soaps, especially in the winter, but often you want to go back to a CLASSIC scented soap and this is one of them for me. Definitely get a nice earthy scent with a mild floral on top and sweet woods backing everything up. Kind of feels like sitting on a mountainside full of trees near an old volcano ( I get an ash vibe to it ). The protection and glide this provides on your face is insanely good and the post shave feel is one of the best I have had ( apparently this is provided by the manna ). Soap is a hard puck and takes a little more time to lather up, but well worth it. My original problem with SV was choosing which scent to start off with, glad I got this and have already ordered SV Cosmo.

  3. Mark Bezzina

This is a fantastic scent that smells somewhat like a classic barbershop scent, but more floral and woody. The scent lasts for several hours and although scent can be somewhat divisive, Manna di Sicilia seems to be liked by the vast majority of people who’ve smelled it. The soap lathers easily and although they recommend blooming the soap, I found that wasn’t needed with a good badger brush! One of the best soaps I’ve tried.
