From the vendor:

4oz of shaving soap in a heavy, ultraviolet glass jar.  Gold foil labels on top and side.  While every shave is different, this should last most people about 100 shaves.

As the sun sinks over the dense tropical forest, civets emerge warily from the thickets. Under a carpet of narcotic flower blossoms, a smattering of coffee berries peppers the ground. The moist air is heavy with mossy aromas that penetrate every crevice, but the musky scent of the civets dominates; their marked territory daring one to enter at one’s own risk.

Zoologist Civet pays homage to the age-old ingredient, civet, as well as chypre perfumes of bygone days – perfumes that refused to be intimidated by raw, alluring, animalistic musks. Civet is a moody and complex brew entwined in mystery. It opens with a spicy floral accord, threaded through with dark coffee tones. Slowly it prowls forward, unraveling base notes of leather, moss and vanilla that combines with distinctive civet musk to create a bewildering, sophisticated scent with the promise of a sultry nighttime rendezvous.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

Great performance from this soap, it is very soft though, sort of like whipped cream which makes it ideal for lathering in a bowl. The scent reminds me of the great Yatagan by Caron except without the pine, it is wild and manly.

  2. Rated 5 out of 5

Civet (and Panda) performs in line with other Chiseled Face shave soaps. A solid mid to upper tier product that could be the “only one” for all but the most demanding. The soap base works well, and with ease, regardless of brush size and material. You can easily match the lather to your edge of choice although I prefer a thick lather with a large straight as this maximizes the enjoyment of the superb scent from Zoologist. Civet is about the scent and premium presentation on top of the BBS shave it can deliver. The aftershave feel is such that an aftershave isn’t needed. If I use one it must be scentless and followed with Zoologist Civet EdP. A premium experience fully in line with the hefty price. if you are a hard core wet shaver and can meet the price of entry, Civet is a must have soap.
