From Shear Revival:

Crystal Lake Water Based Pomade is a medium hold, lightweight, cream pomade. Always keeping the hair’s health in mind, each jar is handmade with quality plant-derived ingredients, unlike a lot of water based products on the market which are full of harsh chemicals and can make your hair flaky or dry. Crystal Lake does not harden up, allowing you to restyle all day like a traditional oil based pomade. Added bonus: it washes out with shampoo.  Get ready to revive your hair…again and again and again…

Another fantastic pomade from ,Shear Revival. This waterbased pomade is firing on all cylinders.

One of Shear Revival’s most popular products, and for good reason. This is an unorthodox water-based pomade, meaning it has some of the properties of an oil-based, but washes out easily. This doesn’t get crusty like a gel and stays somewhat restyle-able through the day. Fairly easy to scoop, a bit more firm than an oil-based like Lockhart’s. The pomade breaks down easily in the palms, I find it easiest to put in damp hair.

Quite an enjoyable product. I go pretty light in application so I don’t know how heavy the hold really gets if you apply a hefty quantity. I generally use it if I want a medium-light hold. If I go really light with application, my hair looks totally natural and bare. If I add a few extra small scoops it gives my hair a slightly “damp” look. It goes in easily, doesn’t feel very greasy or oily, and doesn’t harden up At All. My hair looks and feels marvelous with this stuff in it and I can restyle it with fingers or a comb all day long – pretty much just like if I were styling damp hair with a little bit of product freshly applied to it. Applying it lightly like I do, it works better for casual looks than for slick & tidy comb work. It’s interesting stuff… it’s like it brings order to my otherwise fluffy hair and lets me put it where I want it to be, but still allows the hair to move around and respond to touches and winds naturally instead of hardening into a helmet.

This stuff rinses out easily in the shower even without shampoo. The scent on my freshly purchased tub was strongly vanilla with a bit of coconut and I didn’t care much for it, but now that I’ve worked a few millimeters down into the tub it’s more of a balanced coconut / vanilla / sweet citrus / lavender scent and I like it much more. The scent lingered for a long time when I first started using the product, but now I’d say it’s usually gone within an hour or two and it doesn’t spend the day interfering with whatever fragrance I might be wearing.
